These Terms of Use are entered into by and between you and THRIFT DEGREE LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

By using this website or scheduling a service, you agree to the following terms.

How It Works (Summary)

• THRIFT DEGREE is a for-profit clothing resale and textile recovery business.
• Items left for pickup become the property of THRIFT DEGREE.
• Items may be evaluated for resale, reuse, recycling, textile recovery, or other appropriate disposition based on condition, quality, safety, and marketability.
• THRIFT DEGREE is not a charitable organization.
• No donation receipts are provided.
• Items accepted by THRIFT DEGREE are not tax-deductible.
• All sales are final.

1. Business Description

THRIFT DEGREE is a for-profit clothing resale and textile recovery business.

We collect clothing and shoes through free pickup and evaluate items for resale, reuse, recycling, textile recovery, or other appropriate handling based on condition, quality, safety, and marketability.

2. User Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to schedule a pickup.

By using our services, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the authority to provide the items for collection.

3. Pickup Terms

By scheduling a pickup:

• You agree that items left for pickup are voluntarily relinquished.
• The person scheduling the pickup confirms they have the authority to release the items for collection.
• Ownership of items accepted by THRIFT DEGREE transfers upon pickup.
• Items will not be returned.

Item Acceptance Guidelines:

THRIFT DEGREE generally accepts clean, dry clothing, paired shoes, purses and belts. We may decline items that are wet, moldy, contaminated, contain trash, are unsafe, prohibited, or otherwise do not meet our acceptance guidelines.

Items may be:

• Resold
• Reused
• Recycled
• Processed through textile recovery when appropriate

Items that do not meet our acceptance guidelines may be declined, recycled, disposed of, or otherwise handled at THRIFT DEGREE's discretion.

This may include retail sales, online sales, secondary markets, or processing through textile recovery channels.

THRIFT DEGREE reserves the right to refuse, decline, recycle, dispose of, or otherwise handle unsafe, wet, moldy, contaminated, damaged, prohibited or otherwise unsuitable items at its sole discretion. We reserve the right to decline items at our discretion.

THRIFT DEGREE reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or decline a pickup due to severe weather, unsafe conditions, route changes, vehicle issues, or other operational circumstances.  If a pickup must be rescheduled, we will make reasonable efforts to notify the customer and arrange a new pickup date.

Customers are responsible for placing accepted items in an accessible outdoor location, such as near the front door or on the porch, on the scheduled pickup date.  Items should be placed outside by 8:00 AM on the scheduled pickup date and remain available until pickup is completed.

4. No Donations / No Tax Deduction

THRIFT DEGREE is a for-profit commercial business and not a charitable organization.

No donation receipts are provided.
Items accepted by THRIFT DEGREE are not tax-deductible.

5. Sales Policy

• All sales are final. No returns, refunds, or exchanges.
• All items are sold as-is and without warranties of any kind.
• Pricing may change at any time.

6. Product Condition & Use Disclaimer

Items sold by THRIFT DEGREE are secondhand and may show signs of wear. Items may have been previously worn, washed, or stored and may contain unknown materials or residues.

Items may be sold through in-person sales or online platforms.

THRIFT DEGREE is not responsible for:

• Allergic reactions
• Sensitivities to materials, detergents, or prior use
• Fit, condition, or suitability of items

For in-person purchases:

• Customers are responsible for inspecting items prior to purchase

For online purchases:

• Customers are responsible for reviewing item descriptions and photos prior to purchase

Customers are responsible for cleaning items prior to use.

7. Payment Terms

• Accepted payment methods may vary by sales channel.
• In-person purchases: We accept major credit and debit cards, with chip or contactless (tap-to-pay), as well as Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
• Online purchases: Payment methods are determined by the online marketplace or platform used for the sale (such as eBay).
• Applicable sales tax is added where required by law.

8. Sustainability Commitment

THRIFT DEGREE is committed to keeping clothing and shoes in circulation through resale, reuse, recycling, and textile recovery whenever possible.  Our goal is to maximize material recovery and reduce textile waste.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, THRIFT DEGREE is not liable for:

• Indirect or incidental damages
• Loss or damage to items left for pickup
• Third-party actions or environmental conditions

Use of our services is at your own risk.

10. Pickup Liability

We are not responsible for:

• Items left unattended before pickup
• Weather-related damage
• Items removed or disturbed prior to pickup

11. Service Area

Pickup services are limited to designated service areas and availability.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.
